Punk rock at it's best. This canadian punk revivalist quartet were originally called "Pezz" when they first popped onto the scene in 1998, with the CD "Whoosh". They were then reborn as the much loved "Billy Talent", when they realeased the EP "Try Honesty" in 2001.
The name sprung from their love for the film "Hard Core Logo", in which a guitarist was named Billy Talent.
Billy Talent won the award for Best New Group at the 2004 Juno Awards and also for Group of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2005 Juno Awards.
They are very hard to catagorise, but they have been labelled as "Aggressive emotional punk rock" by many people.
The Try Honesty EP in 2001 created a strong buzz, and they found their exposure in supporting larger bands on tour. They eventually took up a demo deal with EMI. They entered the studio in 2003 with producer Gavin Brown and emerged with their debut. It was set to be released in the July of 2003 on Atlantic.
They will be touring later this year and hopefully we'll see some new material from them.
